Establishment of Field Tech Limited

In May 2003 Field Tech Limited was established in conjunction with the South African based companies of Bellambie Mining & Industrial (Pty) Limited, Becker Electronics (Pty) Limited and Electronic Consultants and Manufacturing (ECAM) Pty.

Field Tech Limited currently represents the following companies in Zambia:

• Bellambie Mining & Industrial (Pty) Limited,
• Electronic Consultants and Manufacturing (ECAM) Pty Limited,
• Becker Electronics (Pty) Limited and

Luka Sikazwe, Director, a Senior Member of The South African Institute of Measurement & control (SAIMC) holds a University Diploma in Industrial Electronics Technology, and a Certificate in Process Control Instrumentation with more than twenty-five years hands-on Mining industry experience spanning from 1979 to 2001. Joined Roan Consolidated Copper Mines then in September 1976 at Luanshya Mine; Engineering Department. Later transferred to Roan Consolidated Copper Mines, Mufulira Mine in December 1978. Worked at Mufulira Copper Mine in various capacities up to Instrumentation Engineer. Carried out a number of projects at Smelter, Refinery, Concentrator and Engineering Departments of Mufulira Mine. A fully dedicated hands-on Engineer; capable of carrying out any electrical and instrumentation project work. Resigned from Mopani Copper Mines Plc, Mufulira Mine in August 2001 to join Endress + Hauser, a major instrumentation company in South Africa, based in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. Resigned again and joined Billable Becker Zambia in April 2002, a South African Zambian based company. Bellambie Mining & Industrial the principal company of Bellambie Becker Zambia then pulled out with Anglo American Company pulling out of Konkola Copper Mines Plc in April 2003.

Francis Sumani, General Manager, MEIZ, Registered Engineer, is a holder of a University Diploma in Industrial Electronics Technology and an Advanced Certificate in Electrical with twenty years of hands-on Mining industry experience since 1986 to 2006. Worked as an Electrical Engineer with Konkola Copper Mines Plc, Konkola Mine until March 2006. Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in winder and power generation systems.

The Management team of the company has undergone intensive training in South Africa on various products and will continue to receive this technical training in the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of our principals’ equipment in Zambia.

The company is equipped with modern and effective test, maintenance and installation Tools and facilities to provide a professional and quality service to the Zambian industries and enjoys a very good technical support form its principal companies in South Africa to
meet its clients’ needs in and outside Zambia.

The current population of our principals’ specialized equipment in service in Zambia requires regular inspection, repair and maintenance by qualified technical staff. Field Tech Limited has been chosen as a suitably qualified company to represent the above companies, enter into service contracts with the current users of their principal products supplied to various companies in Zambia.

The company has highly qualified and widely experienced electrical and instrumentation artisans, technicians and engineers with long years of mining industry experience in the installation, commissioning and servicing of electrical and instrumentation equipment.

Most of our company employees are former miners with diverse skills and hands-on experience in different fields and as such our clients are assured of good technical support.

Plant Monitoring and Control

In days gone by, monitoring and control by the plant operators was done by sight,
Sound and touch but today electronics and I T play an important role in collecting
plant data from wide spread plant and providing this same “sense” to a remote control
centre (control room); by means of telemetry systems. We are able to install and
commission plant communication systems for any commercial and industrial operations.
